Raju Lama: One Mongolian musician
He's the singer whose voice echoes through the heart of every music lover across and out of the country. His is the voice which mesmerizes all the music lovers and leaves a long-lasting impact. This is none other than the lead singer of the band, Mongolian Hearts - Raju Lama! A great singer who has in his name more than 100 songs till date and the numbers of performances he has made at home and abroad are just countless.
And he'll be rocking you once again with his dulcet voice at the Shikhar Lights Music Concert to be held at Bhrikuti Mandap on Saturday, June 18. So here's a brief profile on the one and only Raju Lama.
This music icon started his musical journey in 1992 after he and some of his close friends with interest in music joined hands to form the band, Mongolian Hearts.
Raju had keen interests in music since his childhood. He used to participate in musical programs hosted by his school and he was appreciated by many. He had even brought many laurels to his school from the numerous musical competitions in which he excelled.
The Mongolian Hearts' first album, Soltini, was released in 1994, one year after they started recording. Raju was very keen to join the British Army. However, the success of the first album allowed him to switch over to some other profession. The group's second album, released in 1997, was the main event which paved the way for them to become one of the most happening bands in Nepal.
Apart from music, this Piscean is also interested in photography, making friends and visiting new places which he gets to do through various performances throughout the world. Lama is also involved in social works. He is with the Greenlife Buddhist Society Nepal, an NGO, and Nepal Tamang Art and Culture Centre. This ladies' man also has a restaurant in Thamel which attracts youths and many tourists which is just the right place for any of you fans to know him better and personally. So don't miss on that.
